Secondhand Smoke

Secondhand Smoke Hurts Others.

E-Cigarettes Are "About As Harmless As You Can Get."

Although there have been many studies about second-hand smoke and children, you certainly shouldn’t need to be told it’s just wrong. And it’s rude and dangerous for adults, too. You shouldn’t smoke cigarettes around anyone. Period.

We now know much more about the dangers of second-hand smoke (SHS). SHS is actually two kinds of smoke – sidestream smoke, which comes from the end of a lighted cigarette, and mainstream smoke – the smoke that is exhaled. Sidestream smoke has a much higher concentration of carcinogens than mainstream smoke.

Non-smokers who breathe in SHS take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals just like smokers do. The more SHS they’re exposed to, the higher the level of these harmful chemicals in their body. SHS has been linked to heart disease, lung cancer, and cancers of the larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), brain, bladder, rectum, stomach, and breast.

While the connection between SHS and breast cancer is still being debated, we do know that SHS is “consistent with a causal association” with breast cancer in younger women.

When you smoke, it's no joke. But now there's a way! You can vape everyday.                                                             You can vape on your head. Or in bed with Fred.

Exposure to SHS while pregnant increases the chance that a woman will have a spontaneous abortion, still-born birth, low birth- weight baby, and other pregnancy and delivery problems. Chemicals from tobacco smoke reach women’s breast tissue and are found in breast milk.

Second-hand smoke has a particularly devastating effect on children. SHS is linked to childhood leukemia. Babies and children exposed to SHS are at an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Children who are around smokers are more likely to have more frequent and severe asthma attacks, lower respiratory tract infections, ear infections, bronchitis, lung infections and pneumonia. Some of these require hospitalization and can be life-threatening.

The only way to fully protect non-smokers from exposure to SHS indoors is to completely prevent all smoking indoors.

Making your home smoke-free may be one of the most important things you can do for the health of your family and your children. Any family member can develop health problems related to SHS.

Vaping eliminates SHS.

With vaping, you’re not blowing smoke – you’re blowing vapor!

And when you vape – guess what? NO sidestream smoke, because you don’t have a lit, burning cigarette. Your battery is dormant and can actually be carried around in your purse. And there’s no mainstream smoke either.

If you're concerned for the health of your family and friends, try vaping instead. Use the discount code "Vamp5" to get $5 off any e-cigarette starter kit!
